Looking for a new accountant to support your business can be a tricky process.
So, before you book a discovery call, we wanted you to know a little more about our onboarding process, so you know what to expect from us.
A brief overview:
The whole onboarding process can be broken down into six main stages, with some running independently from one another. We aim to get you through the onboarding process in 8 weeks, however, this will vary depending on your current situation.
Here is a brief breakdown of each of the steps:
The welcome meeting is your chance to meet your new finance team!
You can bring anyone from your own business along should you wish for them to be involved. We will cover key dates and deadlines, explain our services, and confirm your bespoke onboarding plan and timeline.
Professional clearance is something we’re required to follow by our accounting body.
During this, we’ll reach out to your previous accountant and request clearance along with any information that we need. We break this down into 3 steps:
- Week 1, we will request all information from your previous accountant.
- Week 2-4, we receive all information.
- Week 5, your Financial Controller check everything is complete and accurate.
Dealing with HMRC is a nightmare (trust us we know!)
So, we’ll appoint ourselves as agents of your limited company, allowing us to contact them on your behalf.
We’ll become agents for three taxes – VAT, PAYE, and Corporation Tax.
Set up your accounting software
Next, we can get started with you!
We start this by setting up your Free Agent or Xero account and configuring the relevant settings bespoke to your business.
Accounting Software Audit
If you do have a previous account with Free Agent or Xero, we’ll continue using this and simply transfer the account to our dashboard so we can access your information.
Throughout this, we’ll take a full review of your software and make recommendations to optimise the service for you.
Migration to Xero
Alternatively, if you’ve previously used different accounting software, we’ll move you over to Xero and discuss the exact process based on your circumstances.
To make this a smooth transition, we’ll request access to your current bookkeeping software so we can pull the details across to your new software.
Get started with our services
Now, we kick off our services! This will depend on your business as to what is a priority but usually, payroll is time-sensitive, so we make sure that this is in place first.
The setup of each service will take between 1 to 6 weeks.
Finally, we review!
Once everything is set up and good to go, the final step is to complete a review and ensure everything is working optimally for your business.
We want you to think we are amazing, so your dedicated onboarding manager will be in touch to wrap up the onboarding process and ensure all information is correct before the final handover to the finance team.
